Every now and then I get all inspired to do a pre-dawn shoot, and when I do, it’s rare to wake up at 4 feeling all bright and chipper. I did this time though! Win.

The key is to get shooting a good half hour before ‘first light’—that’s when you have the most fun with long exposures in both natural and unnatural lighting. I internally squealed at the light as I initially drove by the sandstone Customs Tower. And I just Wiki’d it, who said it’s where they used to deal with smugglers in the 1800s.
