After an overnight bus with interiors that resembled a primary school disco , we arrived in Bagan at about 4am.  We had just enough time to check into our little hut before heading out to the Shwesandaw pagoda, a great vantage point for sunrises and sunsets. It didn’t disappoint.

We took it pretty easy the rest of the day, getting around on an electric bike, visiting a few temples (there are 4,000 [many visitors try to see way too many)]. We spent a few hours in the afternoon at a  five or six star resort for a cool drink and some shade and watched the rich white people.

The sunset boat ride down the Ayeyarwady River was quite nice, since we had a whole boat to ourselves. We left the ‘jetty’ at about 4pm and by 5 the river was chockers. We ended the day with a traditional Burmese meal with a Belgian friend we made who we kept bumping into at all of the places.

The end. Next… Lake Inle.
